EBL partners with Moner Bondhu to provide free mental health and wellbeing services to women workers in the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector.
This initiative, under Eastern Bank PLC.'s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, is set to benefit over 5,000 women through Moner Bondhu's exclusive counselling and well-being services, according to a media release.
Ahmed Shaheen, Additional Managing Director of EBL, handed over a cheque for the program to Tawhida Shiropa, founder and CEO of Moner Bondhu at a ceremony held at EBL's head office in Dhaka.
“Mental health is crucial for women RMG workers. For a sustainable future this collaboration with Moner Bondhu is a significant step,” said Ahmed Shaheen, Additional Managing Director of EBL.
“Moner Bondhu's mission is to provide accessible and affordable mental health and well-being services. In that spirit, we have always wanted to support RMG workers, especially women workers, who have significantly contributed to our economy. We are thankful to EBL for joining hands with Moner Bondhu on this great initiative, which would be exemplary” said Tawhida Shiropa, founder and CEO of Moner Bondhu.
The cheque handover ceremony was attended by Architect Tasbir Shatil, Director; Kazi Rumana Haque, Head of Mental Health Program and Lead Psychosocial Counselor; Md. Asif Iqbal, in charge of Finance and Accounts; Sapphire Hossain Khan (Satcho) Khan, Project Portfolio Manager; Nawshaba Hridita, Assistant Manager of Content and Marketing from Moner Bondhu ; and Head of Communications and External Ziaul Karim; Company Secretary Md.
